Update 7/4/2021 TPM 2.0 is a new requirement for Win11 when it is released this fall. Minisforums engineers have released a new BIOS/EUFI update that includes TPM. I'm using Win11 Developer Edition and there haven't been any compatibility issues. So this HM50 is Win11 ready. Original post. Many reviews on blogging sites and YouTube provide technical details and stress tests of AMD Ryzen 5 4500U processor and AMD GPU. It performs very well in all tests and is not lagging behind in any way. It's still used in new laptops from well-known brands, so it's not outdated at all and works like a scared cat. I ran my own unscientific torture tests, well beyond what I expected from this Mini. "The 1080P monitors are connected and displaying 3 different 1080P streaming videos - one on each monitor - all running at the same time. I had Netflix, Revain Prime and YouTube videos running and then I looked at the Task Manager's Performance tab and this Mini wasn't even breaking a sweat: CPU at 17%, memory at 4.8GB/15.4 ( 31%), on the GPU only 7%. With all of that working, I turned on Lightroom 6 and started photo editing, Photoshop and GPU usage at 10%, CPU at 20%, and 5.5/15.4 GB of memory (36%). I then opened a text document in Libre Office, ran a few apps (email and newsgroups) and saw no difference in the numbers. Still well below what would be considered high resource usage. I also tested both ethernet ports (1GB and 2.5GB) as we are all wireless systems and they all work. I have a 300mb/300mb service and the wifi was working to spec. Not a single failure. Of course, a lot more stuff happens than I normally run, but. I'm also evaluating it as a media/signage controller replacement for business users with multiple monitors. This mini is now my daily driver and has replaced my dual graphics workstation with 32GB memory and 9 hard drives. All this made it an excellent space heater. With all the fans and hard drives spinning, as you can imagine, it made some noise. I seriously doubt I'll ever need more performance or features than what this HM50 offers. I have 3 USB sticks connected to it (4TB, 8TB and 10TB) and they stay fast even when copying files to all 3 at the same time. I installed two internal 500GB SATA SSDs (Samsung 860 EVO and Corsair) to dual boot between Win10 and Win11 versions and run a Linux VM - just for fun. There are no problems with any of the applications or hardware compatibility issues. I have been in the computer/communications industry my entire career and have used, programmed, built and maintained many different types of systems, from world class size to today's mini PC. In my opinion, the most important part of any system is not just the hardware or software, but the customer service and technical support that the company provides and how they support their products. Yes I tested both before purchasing the HM50 and I can say they are among the best I have dealt with in all my years in the business. Can't speak for reliability but they offer a 1 year warranty with a 6 month extension upon registration. So the total warranty is 18 months - I don't know of any other manufacturer that gives this warranty period unless you buy it under a separate contract. and accurate answers to my questions from Minisforum Customer Service (Nora) and Joey from Tech Support. Response time was a few hours, not days, a week or two like some other manufacturer. When I was looking for a replacement computer, the mini computer was of great importance to me. Big energy savings. I don't hear the fan even under stress and it doesn't take up much space on my desk. He far exceeds my expectations. I have a home lab with about 10 other systems (full size PCs, laptops and tablets) that I still use as test beds and play around with as part of my computing hobby. Now I edit photos, write texts and watch multimedia on this HM50 and don't miss a thing. Keep in mind that chips are currently in short supply - and will continue to be for a year or more - which has resulted in increased costs, and support is also part of the cost of any product. Over time, Windows or some other applications or related hardware will cause a problem and you may need technical support in the future. I know the support both before and after the sale has been a positive 5 star for me and I expect to continue to do so in the future. There are many options to consider and I did a lot of research to make sure. would meet my needs now and still have plenty of strength and resources for the future. It comes with 16GB of Kingston storage and a 512GB Kinston NVMe SSD for storage and is upgradable if needed. It's strong enough and just works.
