Review on SSR 100 Paintballs Powerballs Training by Tony York

Revainrating 3 out of 5

I still can't recommend it for Byrna SD

I promised to check out these updated balls because I heard they will work in Byrne. At least I have trouble shooting the Bryna SD. Sometimes you can't pull the trigger or you have to pull very hard. It just comes down to creating a reliability problem. You don't want to be fighting a trigger when you're in a stressful situation, you just need everything to function. Also, the projectiles I could fire sometimes burst. If you look at another list (https://www.amazon.com/Paintballs-Powerballs-Munition-Training-Shooting/dp/B084VVC7Y1/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=SSR+7+gram+balls+self+ Defense&qid = 1635555778) see an example of how chopped balls damage it. I also did some testing with the e-Tek paintball gun. Unfortunately, the barrel was only a .678, so it took a while for my barrel to clear with a couple of really jammed rounds. Also, any metal they put in the ball is magnetic, so they get stuck in the electronic trash can I have. This is one of those electrically powered bunkers designed for paintball that should help your bunker roll properly. I noticed that this company also makes .50 caliber balls from the same material, although they're only 2.8g instead of 6.8g, so I'm not sure I'll experiment with that. I will say I checked the FPS of these 7g balls and they fired at 150-180fps compared to the smoother 3.5g balls (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/ B07KV6XNHN/ref=crt_ewc_title_dp_4?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A150XC9XCCA98B) at 180-220 fps. I'm not sure yet how many joules you get per projectile. And note that I got these numbers using a Byrna SD which uses a small C02 cartridge. Update: I'm increasing my rating from 2 to 3 stars simply because of the prolific customer service. Both times the manufacturer's representative contacted me to resolve my issue. They don't see that, especially with the vendors on Revain, so I think they deserve credit for that. They even offered to send me a sample of .50 caliber cartridges, but after speaking to someone with experience playing paintball (which I assume has similar characteristics given the similar shape of the projectile), they suggested that I would lose a lot of accuracy. when I fire a .50 caliber projectile from a .68/.678 caliber barrel. They also said they might release an updated version that would be compatible with the Byrna SD, so I'll definitely try it out if they develop one. Hope this helps someone!

Pros
  • . These special rubber steel balls are heavy, strong, efficient and have real stopping power. Very smooth and rounder than comparable balls.
