These are great little radios - good value, small, light weight, with great sound quality and good range. They're also very easy to use as you can't change anything on the radio itself other than channel and volume, and you can also lock it so it can't even change the channel. The radio does not have a programming display or keypad (which helps keep costs down and makes the radios simple), but they are fully computer-programmable. Unfortunately the CD that came with the radio only contains the drivers and you will need to go to the CHIRP website to download the programming software. CHIRP is a good free software but not a commercial product, so the website is not as perfect and easy to use as a commercial website. The basic assumption is that if you had no idea what you were doing, you wouldn't be there. I didn't have much trouble finding the software I needed, downloading and installing it on my computer, but what used to be for other radios and other computers. I doubt the average "family" user of these radios will find this as easy as they would like. Because of this I think the CD should come with CHIRP or some other software to make it easier for the market. These radios are designed to do that. All radios were pre-programmed for FRS frequencies, so they were ready to use right out of the box. I also particularly like that the radios use a lithium-ion battery that can be charged with a standard micro-USB adapter. I might be wondering why they aren't designed for USB programming, but since they include a USB to audio programming conversion cable, that's not a problem.
