The photos show different uses for this pillow. This shape is really meant for side sleep support. You place it between your knees, which keeps your back straighter, more comfortable for sleeping, and better for your hips and spine. It works but the pillow is a little soft. Since it runs between the knees, the midsection had to be made from a more durable foam. It will get smoother with daily use and I will most likely need another one in 6 months. My previous one, which I bought at a hardware store, lasted me for several years until the cover broke and the dogs got to the pillow. I don't expect it to last that long because of the softness. To update if I'm wrong.
