It's curved so it stays between my legs when I roll over and hardly needs any adjustment. i love this part However, it's not adjustable in thickness like a traditional pillow, which allows you to shove in more padding where you need extra support. The photos show different uses for this pillow. This shape is really meant for side sleep support. You place it between your knees, which keeps your back straighter, more comfortable for sleeping, and better for your hips and spine. It works but the pillow is a little soft. I love these pillows and use them in two ways: First, I sleep on my side so my knees don't touch each other, which for some mysterious reason begins to hurt as I get older. This BioPEDIC knee pad is compact and soft. I've had knee pads that were identical and some were harder/firmer. I think the soft ones work really well and you don't have to wait for them to warm up to get softer like you do with the ones that are stiffer to begin with.
