mantic59 "Sharpolog " turned out to be correct

As the name suggests, I bought mantic59 on the recommendation of the author of the site "Sharpolog". Wow. I wish I had bitten the bullet and bought the Variant LONG ago. I started my double edge shaving with the Merkur 140/C. not the razor that mantic59 says is the easiest to use. I never liked its very thin grip, so I tried thicker, heavier pens, but most of them wore out the threads. I was looking for And my first shave with him - wow wow. I didn't believe how smooth the results were with relatively few passes. Of course, the blades are always a factor, but I've found that it's not too much of a variable. I have a good supply of Astra Platinum DE blades and they work just as well as the Platinum Edge blades that Parker comes with. There really is a difference with this razor! So I usually start with a very aggressive (open) setting, then pull it back up when I get to the neck and hold it near the lowest setting while I buff to finish. I still use a Norelco rotary razor to remove any remaining rough spots on my neck and apply some moisturizing oils all over my face. But Variant does 98% of the job perfectly. It will be my shaving companion for years to come.
