My TV only has an optical audio output in addition to the built-in speakers. I needed this as a simple solution to power my existing wireless headphones and connect the optical output to my stereo optical input. I didn't need a 3:1 switch on the front, but I see it can be useful in many cases. I could buy a single channel optical RCA jack, but then I'd also need an optical splitter to power both my headphone box and stereo. My Sony stereo does not have RCA line outputs when powered from an optical source because Sony is overly concerned that it will be difficult to record from optical sources. Pros: optical inputs, optical output, left and right RCA line output, fixed level headphone jack. .Includes an approx. 3 foot optical cable (estimated) and a wall adapter. It works and solved my problem. Needs Improvement: The input select control is a small button on the front that cycles through 3 inputs when you press it briefly. There is no remote control. It would be most useful when used as a selector when it automatically selects the powered optical input. That way you could put that box out of sight and just toggle the optical input source on and off and automatically select the input. it is included This avoids having to place that box where you can get to the selector. Delivery is direct from China - delivery took 3 weeks even though it was within the promised delivery date.
