In Hawaii, the all-in-one camera includes underwater. This is my second waterproof camera from the Pentax Optio WP series. I liked the original WP (only 5 megapixels) so I didn't hesitate to buy this WG-2 when I wanted to upgrade it. In general I like them, but that's not all. I was hoping it might be. I've had it for a few months but waited while using it in diving to complete the review. Let's face it, you're buying this camera for underwater use. It could be better in the following aspects: (1) The shutter button is slightly recessed (maybe just level) and hard to press. I understand the on off button is recessed but why is the trigger? If you accidentally take a picture, what's the big deal? Just delete! Make the shutter button more convenient to press. (2) Other buttons are small. Some buttons are designed to work with nails. Definitely won't work with a gloved hand (diving glove). (3) Cannot zoom in video mode while recording. Why? I want to zoom in and out while recording. (4) The battery/memory card door is difficult to close. It's the same (as in the original WP) two-handed opening and closing, which is good because you don't want it opening accidentally. However, closing requires precise alignment of the door to the body, and I fear this mechanism wears out prematurely. There hasn't been a leak yet, but I'm concerned that this door mechanism might be leaking. (5) Auto exposure in film mode is not constantly adjusted, after pressing the shutter button, the exposure adjustment seems to be locked in the initial setting. This is normal for most video situations, but if you start recording video underwater and continue recording both above and above the water, the exposure will be wrong. (6) The interval photo and video modes are good, but the intervals available are almost useless. The minimum recording interval is 10 seconds. The minimum video interval is 1 minute! Perhaps the only use I can think of for such a long interval is to capture an entire sequence of lunar eclipses. Why such a large interval? I need 0.1s, 0.2s, 0.5s, 1s, 2s (7) This is a point and shoot camera so manual control is difficult or non-existent . You only need to be aware of this if you are an advanced photographer. (8) The included armband and carabiner look cool but are useless for underwater use - you need a REAL armband for underwater use. The negative comments above sound harsh, but I'm picky. All in all, this is a good all-round camera. HOW: (1) Image quality is good both underwater and above water. (2) Excellent macro skills. (3) Nicely structured body surface. (4) Includes this printed instruction manual. , not just its PDF file.
