Review on πŸ” Enhanced Audio-Technica AT-VMN95C Conical Replacement Turntable Stylus by Kevin Mitchell

Best Budget Stylus Best Turntable Cartridge

I've only had this stylus for a few days but I'm still digging for it. Main reason for buying was the cost, I listen to records all day and every chance I get so I'll blow the needle, of course I'd like a more expensive bar but I don't want to keep replacing that bad boy. I decide to downgrade from atvm95e to this tapered one. I've switched to each cartridge on a few tracks to see if I can spot the difference and in some cases I can't. I suspect this may also be due to the quality of the recording, at the time I noticed the difference it was insignificant to me. The way I can describe it is that the sound can literally feel confined like it's hitting a wall and when I switch back to E the sound gets deeper/wider. For context, I'm listening to a Technics 1210 mk2 connected to a pair of Klipsch R-15PM bookshelf speakers and what appears to be a 12-inch subwoofer. My downforce is 2 and my anti skate is 2. I would say if a small difference doesn't bother you and you listen to a lot of music and would rather save money at this point I would recommend the atvm95e. If sound quality is everything to you and you don't mind the cost, switch to something more expensive. In general the stylus is not bad for the money, I might use it for a while.

Pros
  • Turntable Cartridge
Cons
