AT conical on DJ gear

After reading some blog posts about how optimal cones are for 45s, I decided to select this needle specifically for my 7" records. Sounds good to me and very cheap.

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • Hard to tell

Inexpensive quick fix

Not the best sound quality but definitely worth the money if you're a casual vinyl listener like me. If you want to upgrade, skip the middle tier and upgrade to the $99 version. Sounds a lot better.

Pros
  • Availability
Cons
  • Slightly dented

Very nice conical needle.

I actually switched from the elliptical version to this conical version to play the old thrift store, Dyna groove and 45 records on an old Technics changer. It's perfect for this app and I'm very happy with the sound! This pen really surprised me. Sounds great on new vinyl too. Worth every penny!

Pros
  • I hold my fists
Cons
  • There are new competitors

Original Audio Technica

Last year I bought a VM95C cartridge to play old 45 RPM records which can be damaged by an elliptical stylus. The sound is so pleasing that I often leave it on to play vinyl despite having better Shibata stylus cartridges. Well I dropped the VM95C cartridge and the pin was bent beyond repair. Revain and Front Row Electronics are here to help with Audio Technica's original replacement stylus. I could have gone for a better replacement as AT offers a full range but, given the purpose of thisโ€ฆ

Great stylus, great cartridge!

Does what it should at a very reasonable price! Listen, if you're wondering if you want to afford a vinyl collection since albums, a good turntable and more can be expensive, this stylus/cartridge setup should help you decide. I play through an old stereo with an old but great DUAL 1229 turntable. I wanted to go back to vinyl but maybe you wanted to do it on a reasonable budget that would give me the best bang for my buck BUT it needed to be treated well too your notes. My original, very oldโ€ฆ

Best Budget Stylus Best Turntable Cartridge

I've only had this stylus for a few days but I'm still digging for it. Main reason for buying was the cost, I listen to records all day and every chance I get so I'll blow the needle, of course I'd like a more expensive bar but I don't want to keep replacing that bad boy. I decide to downgrade from atvm95e to this tapered one. I've switched to each cartridge on a few tracks to see if I can spot the difference and in some cases I can't. I suspect this may also be due to the quality of theโ€ฆ
