I got these because they were advertised as working either in a ballast bypass scenario or as a direct replacement leaving the ballast in place.I have two remaining fluorescent fixtures in my barn (all the rest have been replaced with dedicated LED fixtures). Both are functional with fluorescent bulbs, but when I swapped these in they didn't power on at all. I ended up destroying my walls trying to get this thing mounted because the drywall screw was so huge compared to what I'm used to. Note that I am terrible at these things. I ended up buying mounting tape instead and it works great! It says it holds up to 10pounds so I'm just going to hang things like coats but no heavy bags on it. I appreciated the lightweight nature of this hat, but it was poorly finished on the inside with the sizing strings hanging loosely and the "hatband" portion poorly sewn. Additionally, the underchin string only had an attachment on one side of the hat instead of both sides (which would be needed to keep it on during windy conditions). Not worth it to return it and I can jerry-rig a 2nd loop on the opposite side myself with a bit of bias tape. Overall mediocre at best.See full review

I installed the light in our laundry room We like the 4000K color - not quite as harsh as 5000K. It is very bright and easily replaces a 4 tube fluorescent fixture. I think the brightness is enhanced in part because it focuses all the light downwards. The light requires a box for mounting but no crossbar in my opinion as it is very light weight.
