Review on Makita HP2050F 6Amp Hammer Drill by Wiktor Jak ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

A completely ordinary product, nothing remarkable.

In work every day, so a certain opinion has developed. The old Makita was stolen from me after almost 10 years of work, so there is something to compare. I bought it without hesitation, I chose an analogue of the one that was in terms of characteristics and appearance. The comparison is not in favor of the new model. Firstly, a clear lack of power - obviously not everyone takes concrete - you have to carry a hammer drill with you. Due to the low power, overheating should be noted - when working at the limit, the engine and gearbox noticeably heat up (the gearbox housing seems to have been specially adapted for heat removal). The old one did not heat up at the same jobs. Due to the heat, you have to constantly monitor the gearbox. About once a month I do an audit, add lubricant, look at the dust (no). I dismantled the old one twice in ten years - the first time I repaired the gearbox two years ago, the second - a year later I checked that everything was in order. The new one has also already gone through the repair of the gearbox - still under warranty. They changed the gear - the teeth were worn out. The sockets began to loosen on the cartridge - the key dangles, sometimes it breaks when tightened, but these are trifles. Although for Makita during the warranty period - even such a trifle should be a reason to improve quality.

Pros
  • Good case, light and comfortable.
Cons
  • Insufficient power, heats up, unreliable gearbox.
