The start relay is easier to verify that it is bad and is more likely to be the problem than the capacitor is.Check the relay first -- I checked mine after ordering the capacitor and ended up changing both cap and relay.UNPLUG the refrigerator, take pictures with your phone if you need guidance to put it back together.The start relay plugs into the compressor unit and also connects to the capacitor. You may need to remove a cover first, then unplug it and shake it. If it rattles, that is probably your problem. It doesn't hurt to replace both, but it is unnecessary cost. A new relay (and a friendly, shiny, new capacitor) has the refrigerator humming.Do-it-yourself fridge fix for about $10 -- way less than the cost of calling a tech.Don't forget to take the chance to clean the evaporator coils.
