We live in the country so we don't have a fence and the dog we recently got will NOT stay in our yard and that is becoming a problem. I was SO excited to see this and thought it would be the perfect fit for our program. We received the first one and the collar didn't charge; It was very frustrating under the circumstances, but the company quickly provided us with a new one free of charge. After the second one arrived it didn't seem to work, which of course was even more frustrating. After cooling down a bit, my husband went back to box 1 with instructions and found these were the wrong settings. Now it works great! Our dog quickly recognized his limits. We've had this for almost 2 months now and I've only charged the collar once (switch off at night). It probably didn't need to be charged but we were driving out of town and I wanted to make sure it worked for our family member who was taking care of the dog for us. I wish it was possible to create a larger area for the dog to run without buying an extender - we set them to the maximum setting of 90 feet in each direction. After reading the reviews about the extension cord, it turned out that the metal would interfere with the signal. Bummer for us since our metal shed is the only other area it can be connected to to give it more space. All in all, however, it was a huge relief and a major headache! Update: The collar accidentally slipped off my dog while running. Luckily I saw it happen and was able to put it back on, thinking it was a one off accident. However, the next time he went jogging, the same thing happened. I'm not sure why the collar isn't attached anymore, but I had to get out my hot glue gun to glue it together to make sure the collar wouldn't slip off again. I hope it lasts. If not, I hope PetSafe sells the collars separately.
