I tried this Carrier XL air purifier at home for a few days before writing this review. It's easy to set up, just take the filter out of the plastic bag and put it in the air purifier. But I am very disappointed with this Carrier XL air purifier. I ordered it because we have a problem with used cigarettes. In short, an elderly relative insists on smoking in his room and denies it. I've tried patching every crack in the walls, but somehow the smoke still seeps into the rest of the house. I installed this air purifier in my living room because we spend more time there. At first I was happy to see that it moves a lot of air in the room, including any dust particles, but cleans the air a bit. Anyway, I didn't expect a miracle. Only an air purifier of this size filters part of the smoke. Because it has an impressively large HEPA filter, including a carbon filter to filter out odours. However, it doesn't clean the air any better than a half-price air purifier. I set it to "Turbo" and after an hour it doesn't clean the air any better than our Lasko air purifier. And the air quality sensor only lights up briefly even when we smelled smoke in the room. Goes from red to green to blue almost instantly. And it stays blue for days. I read the instruction manual that came with it to make sure I was following the instructions correctly and I have done so. I like the LED display which is supposed to show the indoor air quality level (when it works). I just want it to clear the air better, that's all. In addition, such a machine must have a remote control. I'm surprised it isn't. Thus, the Carrier XL air purifier does not come close to the quality of the Carrier brand.
