Review on Maxxair 00 04000K 12V Roof Vent by Wes Thao

Read before buying this fan

I rarely write product reviews but feel compelled to review the MaxxAir 4000k fan I purchased from Revain. This summer I built a camper. and bought a bunch of things at Revain. One of them was this fan. I'm pretty good at construction and electrical (I built a standalone house for example) so I figured this fan would be easy enough to install. And for the most part it was. I installed a fan on the roof, assembled the case, connected the power and turned it on. Everything worked. After 5 days something started to happen. It turned off and beeped repeatedly. Some days it worked, some days it didn't without changes to the underlying system. I called MaxxAir and after waiting 45 minutes to speak to a technician described the problem. They send me a new board. A week later I installed the board and turned on the fan. Of course, the sound signal was resumed. At this point I thought my system was sending the wrong voltage, changing polarity, or even jumping. I checked everything from the wiring to the circuits to the batteries and checked everything. All the other electronics also worked well. So I called MaxxAir again and waited an hour and a half. Nada. I tried to order a part through their phone system but no one answered there either. For such a simple thing, the fan has to be the most time consuming and frustrating part of the entire van build. To make matters worse, MaxxAir seems to have no idea how to fix this other than sending in new circuit boards. Before you buy this fan, google the model number and the word "troubleshooting". Thousands of other people have the same problem.
