We bought this for the holidays. We have beta fish so we use small pellets. Even the smallest setting gives our fish too much food, but since we only use it for vacations I think it will be ok. It came with instructions and was fairly easy to assemble. First you set the time and then you go through 4 feeding slots where you choose what time you want to feed it. It works in 24 hour format so keep that in mind when setting the trim time. Runs on 2 AA batteries. Seems to be working great. He does exactly what he promised. One star off for the smallest setting which is still a bit too big for small fish pellets so I don't see this as comfortable for everyday feeding, just holiday use so we don't over feed every day.
