Review on Tribest Sedona SD-P9000 Digitally Controlled Food Dehydrator With BPA-Free Trays, Black, Large by Brandee Diaz

Hero To Zero! Asleep at the Wheel!

We received our new dehydrator in a defective state: bad heater assembly. We needed to ship it back to the manufacturer for repairs. The manufacturer requests that you ship the product back in the original box (keep the box!) We received the same unit back yesterday with all the screws missing from the back of the machine. The technician failed to put one single screw back into the dehydrator and shipped it back to us. After removing the unit from the container the machine was set on the counter for inspection and testing. One could imagine what it would look like without screws. The body was lop-sided and the door wouldn't close properly. Turning the machine around I observed "zero" screws holding the machine together. To make things worse, the front of the machine is scratched. Needless to say the wife is not happy.Recommendation: If this item is a "must have" make sure you test the heating assembly within days of receiving it. Turn it on and verify both elements are heating up. Walmart will accept returns within 30 days and you can get a new one. $369.00 is a lot of money to hassle with poor workmanship issues after repairs.UPDATE 10/11/12: If anyone is reading the comments posted with this review, you'll better understand some of the problems I was having. Adam from Tribest asked me to send in a photo of the missing screws. I did and he promptly sent me a half dozen new screws which were very easy to put in myself. Now that the new screws are in, the one defective motor has been replaced and I've been using the dehydrator for over a year now. I have not had any more problems with it. With full batches in all 9 trays going at once, it's been running like a champ. I've dehydrated my own herbs, made raw cookies, fruit chips, kale chips. all kinds of things and everything has turned out great! Although I had issues with the Sedona at first, I'm loving it now. If anyone orders the Sedona and has an issue, read the posting from Adam in this review and send him an email. He was very helpful!

Pros
  • The trays are dishwasher-safe, making cleanup a breeze.
Cons
  • The unit may require frequent maintenance to keep it running correctly
