Review on πŸ”§ Enhanced Performance GM 214-2082 Vapor Canister Vent Valve Solenoid - Genuine Parts by Rich Ferguson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Bought new and valve stems

Bought for 2010 Chevy Silverado LTZ 5.3L V8 to fix check engine light. CEL didn't go out after replacing so I switched to Purge Solenoid and replaced that as well. The CEL is still on so I took it to my mechanic today who told me I need a new vapor canister/solenoid because it was sticking. He hooked up the smoke machine and manually opened/closed the solenoid with his computer, which showed me that he could open it by pushing the canister with his hand. $80 wasted, this time going to Autozone for a replacement. EDIT: Went to the Autozone yesterday and bought a $100 Duralast vapor canister solenoid. Put it on the truck, clear the codes and take three short trips around town, no CEL. Came to work in the morning, 30km, no CEL. When I've cleared codes before, they came back in less than 10 miles. This item has been confirmed as defective. If you buy this part and your CEL doesn't clear, don't automatically think it's a different part in the future, have a mechanic check your solenoid/valve and make sure it actually closes.
