I needed this to connect 3 non-PWM fans and didn't want to use the MB connector and overload it. This draws power from the SATA connector for the fans, so don't worry. Note that only the red connector reports RPM, none of the others. I don't know why they insist on labeling the processor since nobody will or should connect their CPU fan to it. It must be related to your MB. I had 3 fans that I connected to other ports and the revolutions were not read. Move one to the red connector and I get RPM readings. All 3 are identical and are not PWM controlled so I only need a reading of one and that's all you get.
