Great for our little dog!

This product has been a "lifeline" for my wife and I when we recently traveled through the Delta and had to bring our small dog. I've never done this before, so I didn't know where to start. During my research I came across Sherpa Delta transport boxes and studied them. This product that we purchased ticks all the boxes in terms of cost, size and quality. And it's approved by Delta! As I mentioned above, we flew on the Delta and made four flights. The bag fits easily under the front seat of a Boeing 737 on all four flights. It was also very easy to carry it on one of our shoulders as we walked through the airport. It has adequate ventilation and is great for our 9 pound dog. She seemed fine with that, but I'll talk about that a little later. If you're traveling with your pet, I recommend the following: 1. Call your airline and confirm their pet restrictions/restrictions and carrier sizes. Don't skip this step! Make sure you do this for the specific flights you are considering (or have already booked) as the size of the aircraft will depend on which airline is suitable or not. When calling the airline, make sure you have the airline's measurements and tell the agent.2. Ideally, make sure you have room for pets in the cabin before booking your flight. I've found, at least with Delta, that they only allow a certain number of pets on board any given flight (I think it's four, but don't quote me - confirm with the airline). If there's no space, then you're out of luck. It is better to inform yourself before booking than after.3. You may have confirmed this prior to booking, but you must make a pet booking after booking your tickets. I'm telling you I was so scared when I called to have it done because I didn't realize I even had to place an order for a pet. Luckily, and this saved me, Sherpa included a guide to flying pets and recommended making a pet-friendly booking with the airline. If this tip wasn't included I probably would have sunk as I wouldn't have.4. Teach your pet (dog or cat) to wear it BEFORE you fly! I think you should start a few weeks in advance to see how they adapt and get used to wearing them. I expect some pets will be fine but others like our dog will want to get out asap! She just doesn't like being "locked up". However, we've found it's possible to take it easy here, by slipping treats through the zip at the top of the stretcher. And when the flight started, it was a blessing, but she calmed down. Maybe movement or engine noise; I'm not sure but she did. Be prepared to pay a fee to fly with your beloved pet. It's financially painful, but what they all need.6. We have made sure our dog's vaccinations are up to date and have received a certificate from the vet for her flight. We've never had to show this to an airline agent and it doesn't appear to have been required, so you may not need to do this if they are in the cabin (you may need to do this if they are in the cargo hold). Depends on how paranoid you are, but this is an option if you want this "just in case". We didn't have to take our pet to safety like some said they should. I think it depends on the agent or the airline. Another "tip": if you have a hyperactive or travel-shy pet, talk to your vet about Draminan for dogs (and I'm sure cats too). ). For this dog we didn't have to use it, but for another dog we have to use it because of motion sickness. This relieves the dog and helps him to calm down. I'm not for giving dogs medication when they don't need it, but I think it's worth and safe to help a dog with anxiety. And it will make your flight much more comfortable as you don't want to be "that" person everyone on the plane is whispering about :) Bon voyage!

Pros
  • FITS UNDER THE SEAT: Our patented spring cage allows the rear of the trunk to be lowered a few inches to meet airline requirements - even under the seat - with mesh panels for ventilation, lockable zippers to prevent accidental escape, and A seat belt that allows doubles as a luggage seat belt and provides additional security and comfort.
Cons
  • Hard to say
