Review on Comline DOC Protein Skimmer 9001 by Kanika Costa

I bought this skimmer last August for my 25 gallon pot fin arch aquarium. I was skeptical of the Tunze Nano 9001's airflow design compared to the Powerhead Turbo/Venturi systems I've used before. There were no recent reviews other than a brief review on YouTube. So I took the risk of ordering this device as Tunze is a well known product in the industry. Mounting: After assembling this unit I discussed which pump position I should use as there are 3 ways to mount it to the pump. Body. I end up using the usual way as indicated in the instructions. This got me thinking how does this actually work because this air intake hose connects to an impeller that doesn't have a motor connected to it? It took me a while to attach it with a magnet as the air supply hose is constantly floating and pushing against the case. I have found that the best way to install the distributor cup is to attach it to the tank with a magnet. Operation: When I first turned on the skimmer, I saw something like compressed fine air coming out of the transparent cover. When I adjusted the air intake, I realized it was already working when I saw the skimmates rising out of the cup. This is an efficient and quiet nano skimmer with air pump technology, without the use of bulky air wood! I recommend this skimmer to all nano tank owners.
