Questionable teething toy

This was advertised as a teether and while it's a great toy with lots of color and interactive potential I'm not sure it's a top choice for teething. The buttons (as well as other components) are very hard and even though the kid puts everything in his mouth, he winces a bit when chewing, so I'm not sure if this is uncomfortable or not.
