Attention Will Robinson, they look exactly the same on the back as the front as pictured with the cardboard going through the filter. I also don't feel like it works with cardboard covering the filters. Unfortunately it wasn't clear in the description and I didn't realize that both sides looked the same. If your system requires uncapped filters, purchase an uncapped filter on the airflow side. I installed them on my system and they didn't work properly and my system was acting strange. Needless to say, I lost my temper and am now in the county jail.
