I bought this set because I liked the design and I trust the Oneida brand. When I received the set I liked the look, feel and weight of the cutlery. Unfortunately, I immediately noticed quality problems, as there was a black coating on three pieces that could not be washed off. Things got even worse when about half of the parts started to rust after only a few weeks of use. These were not tiny spots of rust but a significant amount of rust on many parts. I ended up swapping the kit for a different one, thinking I just got a bad one. After only a few weeks, this second set also began to rust. I have treated both sets with care. Everything is washed by hand with warm water and mild detergent and a soft sponge immediately after eating and then dried with a cotton towel. There is absolutely no excuse why this cutlery should rust when it is real stainless steel. It's too late to return them now, so I'll stick with them. I'm not going to eat out of rusty spoons, though, so I'm now looking for another set that's actually real stainless steel. I'm giving it 2 runs instead of 1 just because it's a really good set before it starts to rust.
