I installed these lights in 4 foot sections of clean new aluminum. To make sure it was clean, I rubbed alcohol on it again. When I installed the fourth bar, the first bar had already started falling off! Not even 15 minutes have passed! The next day, without even turning on the light, all the strips came off at least half. Three fell off completely. (I also bought a different brand flashlight with 3M tape, no sticking issues with these bulbs.) I'm happy with these bulbs, but I need to remove the tape and replace them with something that actually sticks! If I hadn't already set everything up and soldered I would just throw them away and start with the best brand! Update: I removed the adhesive backing - it came off fairly easily. I replaced it with 3M (38583 1/4" x 15' Exterior Tape" 1/4" wide (from Revain). It lasted a week with no sign of loosening. It took a little over a pack to wrap making all the rope.Of course, that adds about $10 to the cost of the lights, but at least they're usable now!So, as I plan on buying extra strings, I'm much more careful about what kind of glue I use now I won't Rely on the description "this is strong", I check the photos for the red tape that says "3M" Although I'm sure there are probably other brands that will work, I won't waste my time and money on this holding experiment (I don't get anything from 3M lol, just glad I found something reliable!)
