Worth it: Parts

This intake system is designed for the new RAM body style, not the 'classic'. The K&N instructions are pretty good. , FOLLOW HIM OK. Estimated delivery time: less than a beer. What You'll Need: For clamps, a 5/16 wrench (recommended) or at least a 1/4-inch flathead screwdriver. For the negative pole of the car battery - 10 mm. Combo Wrench or Adjustable Wrench or 10mm Ratchet Socket For K&N PCV Connector - 19mm Combo Wrench (not needed if you can open a jar of pickles) Coupling - 5/32" hex wrench. Four things to look out for when removing and installing: MAF sensor connector, PCV disconnect, K&N PCV adjustment, and airbox removal. After following the K&N instructions, you can get to the bottom of the matter. When you loosen the hose clamp on the throttle body, resist the urge to operate the lever, or unscrew the airbox, you will break the (4) molded plastic bracket it sits on. The only deviation I recommend is to HAND TIGHTEN the K&N PCV ONLY. hose connection. I knit mine entirely by hand. You will most likely bolt this thing if you use a wrench and break it like the others did. It has a deeper guttural sound as you crawl to 3000 rpm with the remaining engine speeds. If you drive as usual you will see an improvement in fuel economy. Without a before and after dyno I can only believe K&N 15 hp more. for an almost 3 ton car. However, the 35 lb-ft torque gain is very good for a truck that can be used to haul goods. I would recommend upgrading your truck. I think it's worth it and over the life of the car you get more bang for your buck replacing the stock air filter. WHEN YOU SELL YOUR TRUCK, PRIVATE BUYERS WANT IT.

Pros
  • EASY MAINTENANCE: No filter required to clean up to 100,000 miles
Cons
  • Definitely bad product
