The one I received is fleece on the outside and plastic on the inside. First I wanted to give a terrible review. My rats love it but they play LOUD in plastic especially at 3am! Also, it wasn't warm enough to use as a place to sleep. Worst of all, one night one of my rats managed to gnaw a hole in it and got stuck between the plastic and fleece. I had to take a pair of scissors and carefully cut it out. BUT after that we tinkered around a bit and found that the plastic pieces can be cut off completely just by turning them inside out. We did and put it back in and my rats fell in love. Now there is no noise and the girls spend 90% of their time in the cage, napping and playing in the hammock.
