Review on 🌑️ Adafruit BMP280: Accurate Barometric Pressure & Altitude Sensor by Mark Morrow

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works perfectly. Not compatible with BMP180.

onboard BMP085 behaved "fun". The 5v to 3.3v level switch came in handy as my flight controller runs on 5v. The BMP180 would not work due to hard coded conflicting i2c addresses. I suspected this chip might not be compatible, but figured I could get it working for the price. The UI was relatively similar and I got it working in a couple of nights. It worked great to calculate relative altitude to within a quarter of a meter (within a reasonable amount of time). I have never checked the accuracy of the absolute height calculation. I can't comment on the accuracy of the thermometer either, but it worked very well and was accurate to within 0.01 degrees Celsius. 180 where you must request each read. In addition, the chip has oversampling options, so all filtering is done on chip. Setting the SDO low level for the alternate i2c address wasn't documented in the Adafruit documentation, but was listed in the Bosch datasheet.

Pros
  • A lot of positive emotions
Cons
  • No power
