is a good height, 12 inches for a countertop. As mentioned before, be careful with the little plastic tube holding the bat at the top of the tree. I filled the tube with superglue and just put the bat in it. It didn't bother me too much that the light didn't penetrate to the bat to illuminate it, the light wasn't strong enough or close enough to the top to illuminate it in any other way. The only thing that bothers me is the LED. The light drains 3 AA batteries really really fast! I didn't have the loose change to open it to make sure it's LED or not, but the description says it's an LED lamp Keep the box and the foam for easy storage after the holiday. I threw mine away and now I'm kicking myself. :D
