I'm not sure if I finally found a fault in the German engineering (I installed it on a BMW E90 frame) or if the BOXI carriers were defective. The strut bushings attach to the corresponding ball joints on the BMW frame with a spring clip that "wraps around" the plastic housing and protrudes slightly into the bushing, capturing the ball. BOXI's very brief instructions state that you need to lift the spring clip slightly to pull both ends out of the socket and make room for the ball to enter. Ha! What usually happens is that one end of the spring clip falls out and the other end goes all the way into the socket. Now try to put this clamp back in the right position! I ended up bending a clip and had to remove the old one. Perhaps the biggest fault lies with BMW for designing this poor locking system, but BOXI could have been MUCH better at explaining the finer details of the spring return without losing it.
