After a month I finally got around to installing this tachometer and adjusted first the brightness of the backlight and then the cylinder setting. Started the truck and the needle bounced like crazy and then nothing so I turned the truck off and started it again, it shows 1000 rpm when the number of cylinders is also set to 1000, for example: 4000 for a 4 cylinder Tachometer shows 5000. The instructions are not correct, but with a little knowledge you can find out the settings. Won't be ordering another one, wish I hadn't waited so long to install, now I have to junk the tach at the cost.
