Cannot connect multiple monitors

I am a software developer and bought this device to be able to connect both monitors to the same port and quickly switch between my Windows laptop and Linux desktop on a single HDMI. I have tested this on Windows, Linux and Mac using a USB to HDMI 2.1 power cable. Needless to say this was a waste of my time and money. The dongle only allows you to connect one display at a time, so connecting both VGA and HDMI at the same time will NOT work. I use GTX 1050 ti GPUs for Windows, GTX 630M for Linux and Radeon HD 6750M for Mac.
