After trying different sizes of heatsinks (3mm, 2mm, 1mm), I found to my surprise how 1mm can affect whether the heatsink fits on my laptop. New laptops these days are designed to such tight tolerances that they pack more tech into a small case that only this 1mm heatsink (combined with a 0.5mm hot melt pad) will fit on my Dell XPS 9370 laptop. Obviously the original case is sufficient for an SSD because it is much thinner (maybe 0.1-0.2 mm thick), but its heat dissipation is not that good. I wanted to use a 2mm grooved model for better heat dissipation, but the extra 1mm made my bottom case bulge, so I opted for a 1mm flat copper heatsink instead. Another great aspect of this kit is that it comes with Kapton-like (heat-resistant) tape and holds the heatsink to the SSD module better than rubber bands, which are considerably thicker.
