Review on ๐Ÿ  hygger 200W Aquarium Heater: Submersible Fish Tank Heater for 15-30 Gallon Tank with LED Digital Temperature Controller by Chris Edwards

Good, inconspicuous heater

The first impression when unpacking is that the device with the compact dimensions of the heating element and housing looks bulky and a bit clumsy. Partially true in practice, but so far I'm very happy with both the performance and the aesthetics. The initial setup is beyond tedious and the instructions aren't the best, but with minimal effort, the unit installs discreetly and has minimal impact on the overall aesthetics of the pool (see video). The cable from the heater to the controller is the biggest problem. It heated my 28 gallons by 1 degree in under an hour; For me, that's enough of an accomplishment. After about 6 weeks of light use the heater held a steady 79 which is 1.5 degrees off the 77.5 degrees I get from a calibrated digital thermometer I trust. It's not really a problem for my purposes; as long as it's a constant error that I can handle and stays the same across multiple temperature adjustments. I have few concerns about the controller; it almost feels flimsy compared to the robust heater/case construction. Maybe because Is it plastic and is the case made of a different material? Maybe because he's skinny? I had an issue with it not responding when trying to set the temp, suspecting bad wiring, but restarting on power failure solved it. The parts in the tank are much smaller than most of the competition. While size doesn't matter, it's worth noting that keeping most electronic components out of the water should help extend life expectancy. the bulky, traditional one-piece upper sticking out of the water, the difficult-to-adjust unit it replaced.
