Review on 🖌️ Easyou Hukaiwen Ink Block Set - 12 Colors - Traditional Chinese and Japanese Pigment Ink Sticks for Calligraphy, Painting, and Drawing by Dawn Fischer

I practiced Chinese calligraphy (and urged my parents) as a kid in school many, many years ago, but never used colored ink pens before purchasing this product. This seems like a novelty to me and having recently gotten back into art I bought this set in addition to my watercolor set (Holbein), not for sharing but as another experimentation tool. My first impression of the product: very positive. I opened the box for the first time and felt a pleasant smell that reminded me of my childhood. The colors were very vibrant and when I held each ink in my hands they were small but felt solid (heavier than traditional black ink sticks as the pigments were mineral based). There was some confusion about the weight of the material but it was easy for me to communicate with the seller and the error was rectified quickly and to my satisfaction. It was an honest mistake and the interaction was pleasant. I haven't tried all the colors yet, but I like the vibrancy of the colors and the effects I get on paper, which are very reminiscent of the Chinese paintings I've seen. in the past. You'll definitely get a very different effect than what's considered traditional watercolor, which I love too, but it has it's own "flavor" so to speak. So far I've enjoyed the kit and look forward to continuing to experiment with the illustration kit.
