Review on RENPHO Bluetooth Rechargeable Bathroom Smartphone by Melissa Hart

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good scales are good for digital

I bought RENPHO scales because I switched gyms and went from a basic access scale to an InBody Scan scale to no access scale at all . This scale measures weight, BMI, % body fat, lean body mass, body water (percentage), skeletal muscle (percentage); muscle mass; bone mass; Protein (?) (in percent); UNTIL; and metabolic age. Let me just say my last InBody scan was the day before the scale so I can compare the numbers. The InBody scan showed me 35.1% body fat and the RENPHO scale shows me 26.2% - which is quite a lot. big discrepancy. My body water can be measured at 48% at InBody; At RENPHO it was 50.6%, which is not too inaccurate. My skeletal muscle mass could be measured at 35%; At RENPHO it was 43%. Both had the same BMI. Lean body weight was 17 pounds lower in RENPHO. What I love about the scale is that it connects to the app so I can follow trends. I think the data is better for trend than accuracy, except for weight. I feel the "weight" measurement was very accurate compared to my other home scales. I love that I have a separate weight profile for my husband. I appreciate the Bluetooth connectivity. I don't like this body fat percentage though, I think it's the only measurement that really needs fine tuning. Body fat percentage is more important than BMI, which is an outdated way of measuring obesity. Also, her weight is standard for my height of 5ft 6in. has anything over 129.6 pounds as "overweight", which is definitely ridiculous and outdated. These are good scales for the price. I would recommend it with some caveats regarding accuracy and using it for trends rather than accuracy for measurements other than weight and BMI.
