It's a bit early to announce this device. Be sure to keep that in mind when looking at my stars for battery life and durability. So far the device seems to be working well. The extra length of the probe protects the handle (and the hand holding the handle) from heat. It seems accurate when measuring room temperature and it seems accurate when measuring meat temperature. And he reacts pretty quickly. But I'm writing because of its excellent sequel. Video, toll-free support line AND a 3-year warranty offer when you register the device online (1 year otherwise). I'm impressed as I have several meat thermometers that haven't even lasted a season. And this one costs less than half the others. Time will tell durability etc. But I always have a guarantee if something goes wrong. (I almost never write reviews but was so impressed with their customer support that I did.) UPDATE: The bad news is that the thermometer has failed, part of the LCD has stopped working and it was impossible to read the temp, which was turned on. read. The good news is that I contacted customer service about the warranty and they confirmed it - a few days later I had a new thermometer. Still a great product backed by great customer service.
