It takes a bit of effort to slide it through an apple but I guess that's just because of how dense the apples are. You also need to be careful to point in the right direction, because when the apple is on the surface, the bottom of the core isn't always directly below the top. So you can't just push it down or you might miss part of the core. But then again, apples are like that, not the wine of this product. If you like to wash by hand or don't have a dishwasher, you will have a hard time here. It's essentially a tube, so you can't reach everything by hand.
