Helps lift and holds sunroof just over 100 pounds
I've been doing the math and thinking about buying a larger (longer) pair of custom gas springs but decided to try them for the money and I am delighted with the result! The door weighs about 108 pounds, so it used to take 54 pounds to lift and plenty for an adult to hold while trying to open the latch. Given the position I installed it in, it still takes nearly 50 pounds to start the lift and then smoothly closes the opening on its own (see video). With a door that long, longer struts would have given more room for installation and an easier launch, but as I said, it was cheap and easy.
