Helps lift and holds sunroof just over 100 pounds

I've been doing the math and thinking about buying a larger (longer) pair of custom gas springs but decided to try them for the money and I am delighted with the result! The door weighs about 108 pounds, so it used to take 54 pounds to lift and plenty for an adult to hold while trying to open the latch. Given the position I installed it in, it still takes nearly 50 pounds to start the lift and then smoothly closes the opening on its own (see video). With a door that long, longer struts would…

They will arrive faster than expected!

Used to help them lift Murphy's bed. I made a Murphy bed with hinges; Obviously I overestimated my weak strength and didn't take into account the increased weight of the 15 inch memory foam mattress I have! Considering I have a mattress to accommodate degenerative discs in my thoracic spine, raising Murphy's bed every day proved unbearable. I left out reality. If it wasn't for the simple, unobtrusive, affordable price but high performance of this item. I spent a lot of time building a fold out…

High capacity

I installed these gas struts on an outdoor bench I built as part of an integrated planter system for my garden. Since this wasn't a common application, I calculated the weight of the wood I was using and ordered these 100lb shocks and they delivered. In the end, all I needed was a shock to lift the top. You must order mounts to use this product if you are installing it on something that doesn't already have it. A few other things I learned during the installation - the knockers arrived at my…

Some useful info there

I used them in a table saw run out project where a vacuum bag (for veneer work) was installed under the run out table. So opening and closing with an antique broomstick in the corner is obsolete! Very old. I looked through pulley/rope and winch options to make life easier but it seemed complicated for day to day use so I strapped in to find a strut solution. The hardest part of working on my project was doing the geometry/calculus/etc to figure out what specs I needed. Some useful information…

Impressive shock, strut and suspension results

I don't have any other strut application to compare. So I don't know if they are better or worse than other products. But they seem like a good product to me. I bought them and installed them on my truck a few years ago. And I just came back to buy another set. I bought heavy ones, about a hundred pounds lifting capacity. It's impossible to squeeze them together by hand, but if you have a heavy trunk lid it's awesome. I have a convertible camper and the top weighs quite a bit and they are…

Perfect for Bilco interior doors!

One of the gas springs on my Bilco brand steel basement/bulkhead door (size C) has failed. This made the door difficult to lift and fell dangerously when closed. Bilco charged $72 for a pair of their springs (part #3RPBD357C) that were shipped to the house. I thought it was a lot of bucks for a part that only lasted 7 years from the start. There wasn't much information on the factory gas spring, but after some research I settled on a length very close to 20 inches and I needed a 450 N / 100 #…

Perfect for my storage bed design!

I recently added a special storage platform to my queen bed to make it easier for my wife to get her winter and summer clothes out from underneath. I bought a DIY kit from an online bed lifter store that included two 95 pound shock absorbers. The installation went well and worked to raise and raise the platform but as I have a very heavy mattress and used solid wood instead of MDF it was too heavy for my wife to lift it without effort. I didn't want to pay $$$ to get more shocks from the same…

Used one for the floor hatch, the door worked great!

We built a trap door to cover the hole in our attic that leads to the stairs. We needed something that would help the hatch open when you're walking up the stairs, but allow it to close completely when the hatch is closed. You might think that finding the right stand, support, lift, etc. would be a simple search. No. It's been an awful search trying to figure out which one is the best. They want you to have all the information. For example: how much does the sunroof weigh, how much force is…
