It's a beast! in Winter Sports Accessories

I smile every time I hike this in the snow, build shelters, break down shelters, shovel snow to melt water or just look at it. This is a really solid avalanche shovel. It bites very well in ice and packed snow. You can step on its back if needed, it's reinforced and will grab your boot and the blade can pick it up. Tool swing instead of slamming the palm in shovel mode. Excellent cut-and-drag snow clearing performance! It's also great for gently shoveling and lifting snow without having to lean too far. Plus, wear blocks in comfort, stability, and style like a boss. The D-handle is glove-friendly and also makes swinging in chop mode easier. The rubber pad in the center of the handle is grippy and insulating for ambidextrous use. Sometimes snow gets stuck in the blade mount so much that the handle doesn't snap into place after switching modes. Cleans up easily with a chopstick, the tip of a pole, a pen, etc. and thankfully that doesn't happen often. Kodiak is infinitely more functional and reliable than cheap aluminum blades. I like to carry around a few extra grams so I can have peace of mind that it won't break and that it's a pleasure to use.
