I've owned TIVO since 2008, TivoHD 2008 and Roamio Pro 2013. The Pro was damaged by lightning so had to I got a new TIVO and decided on this "refurbished Bolt VOX with lifetime service". This is a fantastic offer. If you don't really need the latest TIVO model, this Bolt is the previous model and just as good, albeit oddly shaped. The included lifetime service makes this extremely valuable as you will never have to pay additional TIVO service fees as long as you have this device. In addition, if the hard drive fails (the most likely point of failure), you can always easily install a new one and continue to enjoy the free lifetime service. in a plain white box, not TIVO branded. And there was no battery for the remote control. Otherwise it looks like new. I can not complain. Lifetime service is activated automatically, but you must transfer the service to your account. This is not a standard process that you can do online, such as B. Registration of a new unit. You must contact TIVO Support via phone or chat and provide them with your new device ID and account information in order for it to be transferred. It took about 5 minutes and then I had to wait about an hour for it to appear in my account. It's fairly painless, but you must do it during normal business hours, Monday through Friday. You can use TIVO without broadcasting the Service, but you cannot access your broadcasts remotely or use TIVO Mini without broadcasting the Service to your account. TIVO is the best way to watch TV - if you have cables, ditch that stupid cable. You have a box in each room and take that and TIVO Mini for every other room. It's MUCH better than a cable box! If you have an antenna, buy a Bolt OTA and you can still buy TIVO Mini units for other rooms, then you just need to run a cable from the antenna to the OTA Bolt and everything else will work on your network. Compared to other DVR options, TIVO has the best user interface and features, and it just works. Once it's set up, you don't need a technician to keep it running. Why bother with network receivers and NAS devices if you don't like those things? Why pay your cable company rent for a horrible box with a horrible user interface and remote control? If you just love watching TV, then get this. PROS: Easy to set up. Excellent user interface and features. You can connect your hard drive with a little work. Lifetime service included - never pay for service again (BEST DEAL!) CONS: The box is quite cheaply made - they compare to older units on quality. Does not support HDR modes (support newer TIVO models) Installation is slow and takes a while. You must transfer lifetime support to your account by contacting TIVO directly via phone or chat.
