DeWalt VS Vac Master (Range $150-$160)

I decided to do an unofficial test between this DeWalt 6.5 hp -Vacuum cleaner . VacMaster 6.5 hp Both are brand new. Both are about the same price, size and weight - the DeWalt feels a bit heavier. VacMaster has a stainless steel tank; DeWalt had hard plastic. None of them rust. The DeWalt hose is yellow and black and feels better and higher quality. The DeWalt filter is almost 1 inch longer and the DeWalt filter is slightly wider. lock (see above). DeWalt has a soft rubber thing to secure the hose (see above). Both vacuums have a cord storage compartment - the DeWalt has a large handle on the top of the vacuum, the VacMaster has two cord clips - one on each handle. Both rear wheels are about 8 inches in diameter. DeWalt is a closed type while VacMaster is an open type. Both were easy to arrange for my recent demo room. The DeWalt has a rear kick like a moving dolly that helps you lift the front end over the bump (see above). NOW FOR THE BIG PROBLEM - WHICH VACUUM CLEANERS MORE: I used a professional HVAC air gauge. I couldn't measure FPM on the opening of a vacuum or hose because it was too strong, so I designed a simple bracket that will hold this tool about 4 inches. When the vacuum was opened, DeWalt was 360-375 FPM. The DeWalt hose end was 390-405 FPM, the VacMaster was 450 FPM on the stainless steel fitting but dropped to 350 at the hose end. The inside of the hose is smoother than the VacMaster. I've owned about a dozen Sears and Ridged shop vacuums, many of them 6.5 horsepower. - Well, maybe not. MY RESOLUTION: I decided to leave DeWalt as I could see this good SS VacMaster tank was slowly getting dented. Time. I also felt that the DeWalt hose was more durable and a little easier to work with. Basically, the DeWalt was noticeably quieter and the VacMaster was not only louder but also had an annoying squeak.

Pros
  • Built-in accessory storage bag, conveniently attached to the back of the vacuum to keep all accessories organized
Cons
  • Very expensive
