I ordered this item because holding an iPad on long FaceTime calls with loved ones has been very tiring during this crazy pandemic. Of course, I could just use a table stand, but then the viewer looks me in the nose. I wasn't sure if the base would be heavy enough to keep the iPad from tipping over, but it's strong enough. The stand comes with 2 Allen keys to adjust the 3 different parts of the stand to get the exact position you want. The part that holds the tablet is spring-loaded, making it easier to insert and remove the tablet. I believe that my smartphone can also be placed on this stand when used vertically.
