This yarn is tough for a scarf, but warm and suitable for knitting a scarf. It flakes, as other reviewers have noted, but not enough to give it a one-star rating. I am crocheting a scarf with usk10.5 which is smaller than you would normally use for the gauge of this yarn but I have used this hook size with no problems. My biggest concern is that I originally ordered 2 skeins. Both had knots in one strand, more in one strand than the other. I have never experienced so many errors in a single strand. One skein had several feet of plain black yarn - no silver flakes - and much finer yarn than the rest of the skein, just happened to be in the center of the skein with the most knots throughout the skein. Revain Customer Service identified the problem and shipped a new strand. Unfortunately it didn't get any better. Many yarn defects make durability questionable.
