I bought this adapter to have a second handy adapter for travel or other purposes as I already have an official Apple adapter. The official adapter works great with my AOC monitor, my other monitors, and pretty much every presentation situation I've ever found myself in. Out of the box, this adapter does not work with my monitor. Backward compatibility in HDMI resolution should not be an issue and this device should function identically to the Apple product it is simulating. Since it doesn't work with my monitor, there's no way I'm going to trust this thing when connecting to presentations on the go. Thus it is useless. It's a hard no. Apple's official product costs $69, which is way too much for a small piece of plastic and some off-the-shelf connectors, but as long as the competition is screwing this crap. Better stick with Apple. Don't throw good money after bad money.
