Replacing my favorite Kirkland socks

I buy Kirkland wool hiking socks and I love them. Since they are so much cheaper I figured I could wear multiple pairs for the price of one pair of Darn Tough socks. But after hearing so much about DT socks I bought a pair to try them out. The difference is significant, and they're worth the extra cost for many reasons. Kirkland socks are larger and thicker, see photo. You may think this is better, but you are wrong. The weave is very loose (see second photo) which not only makes them thicker but also causes problems with puckering and pilling. DT socks are very tightly woven. I live in San Diego and do most of my hikes in warm weather, DT socks are much better in that regard. Kirkland has 1% spandex while DT has 3% spandex, resulting in less stretch over time and a better fit. Dehumidifiers don't tend to stretch well, but DT holds up better over time with higher capacity. DT fits better new and fits better after washing. The DT sits lower on the calves, but I prefer that myself, and of course there are other versions if you like more coverage.
