I understand the challenges Philips faced when trying to create a universal dock that would work with the wide range of Android devices available. I'm glad they offer a range of Droid compatible products. However, I don't think this device has enough features to justify its price. I found the charging station hardly acceptable. Credit to Philips for designing a retractable base with adjustable feet that keeps the phone centered, level, and docked securely. However, as others have said, the execution of this base is missing. My Droid RAZR MAXX doesn't seem to snap no matter how I set up the mounts and it's impossible to see the micro USB port when trying to orient the phone to place it in place, so it is a clumsy process. . No matter how carefully I tried, it always seemed like I was putting a square pin in a round hole. I suspect this arrangement will not hold up over time and forcing the phone into this dock could damage the phone's charging port. I prefer to charge my phone with the power cord. The Fidelio app basically works as promised (although you really need to read the additional installation instructions on the Philips website, as the printed instructions that came with the AS111 are utterly useless). However, I found the alarm clock more difficult to install and use than the alarm clock app that was already installed on my phone. Sometimes I randomly get a message on my phone asking if I want to connect to AS111 when I'm miles from home. I'm not sure if it's caused by Fidelio or my phone. Another annoyance comes from using the Droid RAZR with this device. The thing is, many Droid apps aren't designed to rotate 180 degrees when the phone is rotated in portrait mode. The Droid RAZR needs to be installed upside down as its micro USB charging port is on top. Fidelio and Philips Songbird Music Player will be interleaved, but other applications will not. I prefer to use other music players, but that's very inconvenient with this device. All of these shortcomings would be forgivable if this speaker sounded great, but unfortunately it isn't. To me it sounds about as good as a 1970s clock radio. Suitable for soft background music or listening to a morning radio show, but no more. That's just not enough for the price of this device. And a clock radio from the 1970s would have been much easier to use as an alarm clock.
