Lack of instructions is frustrating

Should it appear to be floating 1/8 inch above the table surface? something I don't like. So I used a router bit to countersink the attachment points and ended up being super flush. Without instructions, it was hard to know if I did it right or not, but being a hands-on guy, I did it. Not a bad device for the price but I think it should come with instructions.
